Anyone going on the Norwegian Cruise leaving on Nov. 24th out of Charleston? =docdance
I can't wait this will be my 4th cruise but first with Norwegian Cruise Lines.:)o
I always like to do a little research on the ports and ships that I go on. So any suggestions or comments are welcome.

Hi SCCruiseChick, and welcome to cruise-addicts!

I've been on Norwegian Majesty four times, most recently in August 2006, so I am happy to answer any questions about the ship. Obviously, we are quite fond of her.

Let me know how I can help.

We have done the Boston to Bermuda cruise on the Majesty 9 times (#10 is bo0ked for 09/30/07). Our first cruise was May 2002 so you can tell we really love it! I would be happy to answer any questions about the cruise or Bermuda. We did 5 land vacations there before our first cruise.

I do have a question. What is this freestyle crusing like? I have only been on Carnvial Cruise lines, where they have assigned time to do things.:daisy

With free style you can eat when you want, where you want and with who you want. On the Majesty there are 2 main dining room, Le Bistro (French Cuisine) and a Italian. Both Le Bistro and Pasta need reservations. No charge though at the Pasta restaurant. Dress is resort casual. It was always no jeans or shorts in the dining room after 5:30 but it seems they have relaxed the jeans part lately.

I love NCL and often curise the line. I have been on the Majesty and sadly, it is a worn, small ship in need of updating. It was not the usual NCL quality I am used to. (cruised Majesty in 2004)

Can anyone tell me about the rooms on the Majesty? We are booked in a CC category on the Viking deck? :S

You've got a good cabin in a great location, IMO. The CC category is one of the superior oceanview cabins, and although it is not large (just 140 square feet), they are the largest cabins on the ship other than the suites. Viking Deck is a great location -- just two decks below the pools and buffet, and two decks above the casino and show lounge, and three decks above the dining rooms and main lobby area. The only caution that the CC cabins toward the aft of this deck will have obstructed views -- you can make these out on the deck plans on the NCL Web site -- so you might want to check that if this is something that might bother you. For what it's worth, I once had a fully obstructed oceanview cabin on this deck (one of the smaller cabins, by the way), and it was fine.

Lisa,
Thank you so much for the info. Can I bother you for a couple of more things? Can you order special diets? My father- in -law just had some major heart problems and now can not have any salt in his diet. Do we make that request now or later? Have you gone out of Charleston to the Grand Caymen,Cozumel and Key West? What tours would you recommend ?

Yesw, you can order a Special diet. You should contact your ship's co-ordinator as soon as possible.

We are looking to book a cruise for next April over Easter week and so far our leading 2 cruises are on the Majesty out of Charleston or the Star out of Los Angeles. I have sailed twice before, once on Carnival and once on RCCL. The rating for the Majesty is just slightly lower than the ratings for the Carnival Fantasy or the Majesty of the Seas. The rating for the Star is about the same.

Has anyone else been on these ships or have some advice of what ship we would like better. We would probably be sailing with our 2 daughters, (13 and 14). I enjoyed the Royal Caribbean cruise better than the Carnival one. I liked the quieter atmosphere better.

Thanks for your advice.

Where is The Ship

We have never sailed out of Charleston before and after reading quite a few posts we are concerned about the taxi drivers.

We are flying in on the morning of the cruise (getting in real early) and we have read many horror stories about people getting lost from the airport to the pier where the ship is located.

My questions:

Where exactly IS the pier located in conjunction to the airport?
Is there a shuttle at the airport taking people to the pier or do we get there on our own?

I appreciate any help you can give as it has been a long time since we were on a cruise (16 years).

Thanks.

Hi Majesty Lovers...we sailed the WCarib in April 04 out of Chas and planning the Bermuda in June but can't decide on a room. We lucked up on a great deal for an owners suite the first time - now we're looking at Cat C on the Majesty Deck overlooking the bow. There are two suite rooms there and 4 or 6 ocean view staterooms. Just wondering if anyone has seen this "different" layout for that little group of cabins. Also, we had a blast four years ago, but the ship was a bit worn then. Have any improvements or upgrades happened since? Thanks so much for your help!
