I just read the news at www.ncl.com that Norwegian Sea is in dry dock getting a multi-million dollar makeover. My cruise starts on Feb. 22nd. Can't wait..It's my birthday! I'm going to swim with the stingrays in the Cayman Islands and snorkel at the beach in Cozumel. Our ship is in Cozumel until 10:00 pm and so I will have to check out Carlos & Charlies. I have cruised 3 times before but these will be new ports for me and my 1st time with Norwegian. I look forward to the casual open sitting for a change but mostly looking forward to getting away from this freezing cold weather and snow in upstate NY!

Sharon, Happy Birthday, that's the same day as my brothers. I am a strong NCL loyalist, but just want to remind you: I don't know what ships you have been on previously, but the Sea is a little smaller than some, even with a make over is not glitzy and the cabins are smaller than some ships. That being said, she is one of my favorite ships. The crew is wonderful, the ship cozy and the entertainment as good as any other ship. I only point out the negative (which is not really negative) so you won't be expecting a really glitzy, Vegas type experience and be disappointed. We loved sailing her and would do it again in a second. Happy cruisin

We are sailing on her in December of this year and can't wait. She was my first, back in 1993 when she was the MS Seaward. I didn't mind the size then, and I'm sure I won't now.

Terry and Ritchie, we sailed her when she was the Seaward out of San Juan about 6 or 7 years ago. It was one of our favorite cruises. The ship is just big enough to give a feeling of small hotel and small enough to find your way around, not to mention a very friendly crew. Even though the itienerary isn't my favorite we may sail her again next year. Happy cruisin

We were on the sister ship the Norwegian Wind on the 11 day Hawaiian cruise last November. It had been stretched 130 feet and had staterooms added and I assume some cosmetic renovations although not having sailed her before I had no point of reference. The ship is obviously older and shows some wear and tear around the pool and deck areas but nothing that would ruin your vacation. It is a smaller ship and easy to find your way around on. The service is great as is the food. The production shows are very good and the comedians and guest singers are entertaining also. The cabins are a bit smaller than other ships and drawer space is at a premium but workable with a bit of ingenuity and prioritizing. I assume that the Sea will mirror a lot of these issues with the exception of the wear and tear around the deck areas. I assume these will have been refreshed. If you have the same type of crew that was on the Wind you will have a great time. And without having the PA system blaring in your face all day as is the case with Carnival.

Just FYI, the Wind is the sister ship to the Dream and the staterooms and ship layout are quite different from the Sea. The Wind and Dream were both stretched in 1998 but the Sea was not.

Whoops Carib, you're right. Sorry about that Butch and Sharon. My ships are starting to run together in my memory. Thats what happens when you retire I guess. However retirement leaves more time for cruising (if they don't blow the world up in the meanwhile) In any event NCL is a great line and you will enjoy. Have a good one.
