When the Sea is transferred to NCL parent company of Star Cruises, she'll be renamed SuperStar Libra and she'll be sailing out of Bombay (Mumbai), India.....starting in late September 2005..... I believe she'll do a Panama Canal cruise out of Houston on July 22, and spend the month of August in a drydock either in LA or Singapore.... I found the information at Starcruises web site......

Have NCL announced which ship will be leaving after the Sea? I assume perhaps the Crown or the Wind?

Not yet.... It could also be the Dream or the Majesty too.... Four more are expected to leave, I suspect the next won't leave until Spring 2006, and two more in 2007, early Spring and Fall, in line with construction of Jewel, Pride of Hawaii, and the next two Jewel class ships in 2007....

The Jewel is slated to do Caribbean and Mediterrenan cruises, Crown or Majesty? The Pride of Hawaii is scheduled to do Hawaiian cruises, the Wind? I haven't a clue as to the other new Jewels, but that could lead to speculation of the Crown or Majesty which didn't go earlier, and then the Dream.....

Yet the Wind is the only ship scheduled past April 2006, its doing an Alaskan season in the summer of 2006, a Sawyer Glacier cruise out of Vancouver.... The other three's schedule currently stops in the March/April 2006..... If we watch their schedules in the near future we'll probably see the end of one of them at that time.....

The Bombay India deployment has a lot of government involvement with Indian tourism.... The last time I surfed their website they had two terminals, Singapore and Hong Kong. They have added Bombay and Taipei as terminals on their website..... I suspect the next ship will probably go to Taipei, currently a much smaller ship, StarGemini, around 19 thousand tons displacement is christening the Taipei service....

If the Majesty leaves do you think they will replace the Boston to Bermuda route, or abandon it. I would love to see a newer and larger ship on that itinerary. Once on the Majesty in August 2000 was plenty for me.
Sailing on the NCL SUn however, was a very pleasant experience, once that we will repeat this New Years.

I was under the impression that one of the ports in Bermuda, if not more, is considering enlarging their entrance because the cruise ships are becoming larger....and don't fit.... If this is so, I'm sure they will enlarge their entrance enough to at least fit a ship of Panamax size...... They need to as they will be losing tourist dollars if they don't.....

I doubt the Boston-Bermuda run will end. It's quite popular -- in fact, NCL picked it up from Majesty Cruises after buying the Royal Majesty and renaming her Norwegian Majesty. The port of Boston is also making a concerted effort to bring in more ships, so I doubt it will want to see a popular route go away.

As the NCL ships are going to leave the fleet one at a time, at least one of the other early-'90s ships will be around should N. Majesty depart within the next couple of years. N. Dream and N. Wind can both fit through the existing St. George's cut -- I know this as I cruised to Bermuda on Dreamward years ago. (Her subsequent stretching has no effect.) Actually, I believe these would be good ships for Bermuda as they are larger (50K GRT), have some balconied cabins, larger cabins, and a lot of open deck space. (The sloping aft decks are the prettiest I've ever seen.)

As Don said, the Cut will very likely be widened in the coming years, yet at least NCL has a few ships that can navigate it in the meantime.

All this is JMHO. :)
