I am scheduled to sail on the Sea, June 15th to Bermuda, leaving from NY. Has anyone been on the Sea lately. This is my first cruise. What helpful tips can you provide. Thanks in advance for your help.

She is an older ship, but fairly well maintained. I last sailed her in 2000 for a New England/Canada sailing. I also sailed her when she was brand new. I have always loved the ship as she feels like a ship not a flooting hotel. In her prime she was one of the most elegant aflot. The cabins are very small. That was how they built them back in the late 80's. The food is good not great at this point. Buffets you can skip.

I believe the Sea was refurbished in January of this year. About 12 million I believe.

We are looking at a repositioning cruise on her in Oct but I also would like to know just what she is like now.

If she is rickity and full of rattles and bed linens that have seen better days I don't know if I want to be on her for 12 days.

Otherwise the cruise goes exactly to the ports we have always wanted to go to.

Also---are all the cabins teeny tiny or if you go up in price do they get a little bigger?

the Sea is not rickety or falling apart, she is older, not particularly glamous and the cabins are small with no balconies. To off set this the crew is the best I have seen for friendliness, there are 2 pools, very unusual for a ship her size, the food is good the entertainment outstanding. What you get from a cruise in my opinion is up to you. The most important thing to remember is every ship is different and everyone has its own personality. If the itinerary and price is what you want "Go for it".

Hi glo-ree-bee:

As I wrote on the community board: I would still choose the Nordic Empress :grin
