My wife went on it the first year it was in service. Great ship. The food in the specialty resturants are excellent. Stick to them, they are worth it. Night life on deck was constant unlike the others. Great cigar bar too. We are in our thirties and loved it. Make sure and get a balcony stateroom. Freestyle is the best way to go. I have really been spoiled and we just got off a cruise on the Grand Princess and really missed the Sun and that style of cruising. Good luck. Our next cruise in in less than 4 weeks and counting.

My daughter and I were on the Sun for my 65th BD about 2 years ago. We couldn't have had a better time. We didn't have a single complaint, ate at a different restaurant each night, the entertainment was good though I miss the old Broadway shows NCL used to do. Our balcony cabin was great. Freestyle worked best for us as it was great not to have to dress up. We did wear sun dresses or nice capri outfits. It still is a formal dining experience and we aren't complete slobs. One of my favorite things about NCL period is the deverse class of travelers and the totally mixed age groups. Most lines seem to cater to a certain class or group. NCL has a little bit of everything and something to interest everyone.

I cruised the western caribbean last October on the Sun! It was fantastic It was my third cruise, and my second in a balcony cabin. Balcony is the only way to go!!! Roger Hernandez in the Piano bar is wonderfu! He does a fantastic tribute to Billy Joel, and another to Elton John. Have a great cruise!

i sailed on the sun just over a year ago and it's a beautiful ship with great service. more importantly i just got back from a non-frestyle rccl cruise and i really missed the freestyle dining options. it's exciting being able to choose a different option each night of the cruise rather than eating in the same dining room at the same table each single night. and again, the sun is truely a very visually pleasingy ship inside and out.

I just got off our first cruse to Western Carib on the Sun Sunday.
I understand the ship is repositioning to Alaska within a month.
The total trip was nearly perfect-although as a first timer I have nothing to compare to other ships.
The food/ accomodations/ crew and entertainment were way beyond my expectations. The only minor complaint I have is the music was way too loud, but part of the travelers were spring break college kids so I guess it was geared toward them.
When the music on the pool deck was too much there were many alternate places to entertain myself both inside and outside.
Everyone onboard was happy wiith the service and as a matter of fact the crew got a standing ovation at an introduction on stage with most of them (oops who was guiding the ship?)
We ate at two of the free restaurants and the outside buffet and found all the food superior to most offshore restaurants in out Northwest USA area.
There was so much entertainment available that we missed most of it. The spectacle shows included some fantastic dancers and gymnasts. We avoided the offshore excursions which I will allocate some funds for next cruise.
Will I do it again?-you bet !
on same ship?
YOU BET !
would I change anything? maybe get a balcony for Carib trip-maybe not for Alaska.

We did the Sun in Dec. and loved the freestyle cruising. The food was average but overall the trip was great. La Bistro is worth the experience. Paul Baya the cruise director was the best we have met. We did not experience loud music most of the day as in the previous post, so that must have been spring breakers. The rooms were quite garish in their decor, although every other aspect was fine. We have sailed NCL 4 other times, however this was the first for freestyle. I also don't know if I would put out extra $$$ for a balcony in Alaska. I have done that trip. You won't spend much time of the balcony there. Have a great time.
