Nostalgia?

I suppose this merits the "who cares?" department, but it was 51 years ago today - both date and day of the week - that I sailed for the first time with HAL on the Nieuw Amsterdam from Hoboken to Rotterdam. A lot of oceans have been sailed since then!

How interesting is that!

I bet you've seen lots of changes on HAL ships over the past 50 years - not least of which being the Carnival buyout, the "new" funnel colors and balcony staterooms!

My boss is taking her parents and children to the Caribbean on Zaandam in Oct (they got an S Suite for 72% off!) It will have been 50 years ago that her mother 1st came to the US aboard a HAL ship. She showed me a couple of the old photos - Imagine how elegant it must have been: Emmigrating to the US in her white ball gown in 1st Class...

Do you still have any of the old photo's Mary Ann?

Brian,

How are those RSVP cruises? We have never done one, but do go on about two to three cruises a year. Just wondering if it is relaxed, or as bad as the Castro on a Saturday night!

This is my first one - so dunno, will have to keep you informed.

Friends who have been have been have told me that they had the times of their lives (whatever that means...)

Personally, I'm hoping for relaxed fun - not a "cruise" cruise, if ya know waddimean...
(looks like the new BF may be coming along too...)
