Not a good week

Last week was not a good week. First we had a scare with our 10 year old granddaughter. A heart condition was discovered that will require surgery. The good news is the surgery does not have to be immediate. Riley Hospital in Indianapolis will evaluate and schedule the surgery. It looks like it could be hereditary as my late wife had something similar but never had the surgery.
On top of this I've had my second bout with the shingles and it had been worse than the first. This time the vision in my left eye has been affected from my cataract surgery a couple years ago. Hopefully it's just temporary.Time will tell.
For the immediate future I will be limiting my computer time to work related activity only.

Thoughts and prayers are on their way to you and your family. It's always a terrible shock when such a young person develops a serious medical condition -- we've been there ourselves and, therefore, know many others in similar situations. The good news, as you pointed out, is that it's treatable and not urgent. My best to all of you during this time.

Keith - sorry to hear about your bad week - will keep all your family in my thoughts and prayers. Keep visiting the doctors and get second and third opinions - they know the best.

Hope things start turning around for you and your family. Think about getting the shingles vaccine since you seem susceptible. My BIL has had it 3 times. Our doctor is a fan of the vaccine, so we both have had it. Hoping for a great result for your granddaughter.......early diagnosis is key. Kids bounce back so much faster than us old folks.

Sorry to read of your granddaughter but it sounds like the drs. are on top of it. And they can do such marvellous things now. And she has youth on her side.

Tough that you have a return of shingles. Hopefully it won't last long.

Sorry to hear it was such a bad week. At least they caught granddaughter's condition & it is not an emergency situation so they can take their time in evaluating & kids are so resilient but none the less, it has to be a worry for you.

Don't know anyone with shingles but have heard that it is really nasty. Hope you are better soon.

It's good that your Granddaughter will be evaluated by another specialist. Our Prayers will be with her.

We were contemplating if we should or shouldn't get the shingles vaccine, I think we just might.

My goodness!! It has been a bad week for you all. I hope your granddaughter is soon okay from her heart condition. Please keep us up to date.

And I know you are miserable with the shingles. I've never had them, but know people who have, and they were miserable. Please let us know how you are once you are able to come back and visit with us.
