Booking an outside balcony to go in October Eastern Carribean and would like to know:

--Which level is best so you're centrally located and easiest to get to everything
--Are reservations required for any of the shows to guarantee seating
--What for sure whould we not miss to do
--What perks do they offer to Diamond members

Thanks.

Best level is 8th deck or what they cal Central Park atrium.
You will need to make all dinner and show reservations as soon as they become available on line. I just sailed AOS and was told all reservations were taken 60 days before sail date, we mostly sat in our room most of the time in the evenings.
As for what not to miss, try to avoid or miss the main dinning room for meals, food is horrible.

Karin,
We were recently on allure, basically the same ship...
My best advice on Cabin location is to try to get close to the aft elevators...
We were in #8676--which was a near perfect location...
Right down the elevator to the main dining room...right up the elevator to the Windjammer...
Walked virtually right out our door into Central Park...two decks below us and straight out to the Boardwalk...
Etc.

Definitely make your reservations for shows early...They are not always necessary, but definitely worth having...otherwise, you will get shut out of some shows...or risk having to come in late and pick from leftover seats...maybe not findiing seats together...

Do a little early planning...We figured out that, withour Early Seating Dining, really only one set of shows worked well for our criteria: We wanted one of the six shows each night of the first six nights...none in the afternoon, none "too" late...mostly around 9:00-9:30...Once we figured out the schedule, it all became obvious--so I jumped in and booked early...the rest was easy...We were still able to get in without reservations to an additional "Headliner" show and an additional Comedy show...But having the reservations just made everything easy...

Really--don't miss any of the entertainment...We thought "Eh" about the Water show before we saw it...turned out to be a great show...

For Diamond members, there is a Diamond Lounge on Deck 6...Free drinks from 5:00 to 8:30...I often went for both a pre-dinner drink AND a post-dinner drink since we ate between 6 and 8...Really nice...Then they had, of course, the typical coupon booklets (not much there but a free photo)...I think they had a special breakfast, but we never went...backstage tour...

Have fun...

Steve, Do you know how far in advance the reservations open? Like, if we book the Allure now for next February, will we be booking them right away, or will they open in a few months?

You'll have to wait...IIRC, it was some time after final payment day...

Thanks Steve. Let me pick your memory some more: What was embarkation like? I fear, that with so many passengers, it will be horribly long. Now I know you were Diamond level, but we won't be, so can you remember what it was like for the average passengers?

Dereckbc, Would you care to weigh in here too?

As I recall, it was rather fast...even for the non-Diamond/Suite...The only line/wait was going up the gangplank to the ship, backed up at the card reader/photo...a little bit of a wait there, but not unbearable...

We got there pretty early...I think around 11:30, IIRC, and were on by noon...rather that the buffet, we enjoyed lunch at the Park Cafe...very peaceful...table out on the park...

The only negative thing I have heard is that if you don't reserve shows in advance, you'll miss out.

A friend of mine had a boardwalk balcony cabin on one of the
inaugurals, second from the rear. She said they could see the water show from their balcony so didn't need to make reservations for that show.

Thanks for all the info.
The cabin we have right now is on deck 9 by the aft elevators so it seems like a good choice.
We do have late seating since we don't like to rush back while in port, so we'll make show reservations and hope for the best.
