Oasis of the Seas

I am interested in your thoughts about this gigantic ship. I have read that it really isn't going to any ports except private ports. Too big to go to any regular ports. Don't know how much is true but I can say for myself only, I am not interested in sailing on a ship that is a city in itself. If I want to go to a town I will go to a town, not one on the ocean.

Share your thoughts.

Her eastern and western itinerarys are the same as all other ships ive sailed on.. Easter is St thomas, st Maarten and nassau.. and western is cozumel, labadee and costa maya.. originally supposed to be Falmouth jaimaica.. which is great 20 min from MoBay and 30 from Ocho Rios... but the pier will not be finished in time for 2010 sailings.. so Costa maya is a sub port of call on the west itin for now....

On the Western Caribbean itinerary it goes to one private port and two "regular" ports. On the Eastern Caribbean it goes to three "regular" ports.

I saw the Oasis of the Seas in port at Ft Lauderdale and I must say she does stand out in a crowd.

Can't wait to cruise on her but I'll pass until the prices drop to within reason. Way over priced right now.

Looking forward to hear all!
Still have to wait until October 16th and then it's my turn to board the Oasis.

I was on the Oasis in January, I believe it was week 5 of her sailing. It was a very nice experience but the ship is way to big for my taste. Initially I thought that it would be a neat experience to have the inside/outside shopping areas. However, this changed when we had rainy weather the first couple of days. It was a bit of a pain going from inside to outside because of the weather. Overall it was a wonderful experience and, I have to say, if the price was right, I would sail on her again!

I think Maw and Paw will stay with some of the smaller ships. We don't need all those extras to have a good time. Not into big crowds anywhere. We had a hard time on the Mariner keeping up with each other and friends so it is the smaller ship we will go on.

I believe there will not be another ship built like Oasis of the Seas for a long time. I watched a show on the construction of Oasis on the National Geographic Channel, I couldn't believe they were able to construct merry go rounds on the ship along with a zip line! That is just plain awesome! I would love to sail on that ship if I ever got the opportunity!

There is another ship, just like the Oasis of the Seas, coming out later this year.
