I can answer two of your questions. We usually head for the ship around 10:30. Check in starts by 11 and we're usually one of the first on board. Sometimes you are asked not to go to your cabin until 1 so we head for the buffet. After lunch we have been known to put our carry ons in a deck chair and play shuffleboard until we can go to our cabins. As for formal nights, not everybody participates but we always do. To us, it is a part of the cruise experience. I own my own tux but have never worn it on dry land but have on every cruise,.
