obstructed view on Grand

thinking about my first cruise on Princess and am wondering about the obstructed view outside cabins on Emerald deck on the Grand. According to the deck plans, there are several cabins that appear not to be completely obstructed by the life boats, though the category describes them that way. Has anyone stayed in those cabins on Emerald? I could live with partial obstruction and will not consider an inside. Just need to see something outside, but could live with a partial obstruction. Any help would be appreciated.

It's because the obstructions are from things other than the lifeboats. There are lots of walkways and all the equipment associated with the lifeboat davits that hang in those windows. You still get light though... worth it if you want to save money.

I too have had an obstructed view cabin like DJA. It is much better than an inside because you will know if it is day or night and your body clock does not get messed up like it does (for me anyway) in an inside cabin. I would go with a OBSTRUCTED GTY and hope for an upgrade.

Rob, my mom had one of these cabins on the starboard side. It was midship and definitely had the lifeboats outside it, but I thought it was really nice despite this. She could see out between the boats and the rigging that holds them in place. On some days when the lifeboats were being used as tenders, she had a complete view out her approx. 3' square window. It was just nice to be able to see daylight. On another day, the crew was doing its mandatory lifeboat drill, so once again, she had a full view out her window. :) :) Just aim for a midship cabin on the Grand whatever you do. :)

I was in E312 several years ago on the Grand. The top of the lifeboat was below or even with the bottom of the cabin window. View outside was fine except you couldn't look directly down. View up was blocked by the balcony above but was fine. Very happy with the cabin and MUCH better than an inside.

Now the obstructed I had on the Sun (D606) was fully blocked by a lifeboat directly outside the window. Not much better than an inside but a fantastic cabin location.
