Ocho Rios and Grand Cayman Beaches

I'll be on the Carnival Liberty this October, and only do beaches (excursions). Carnival has 2 that look interesting - one in O.R. called the Bamboo Beach Club, and the other is another new resort in G.C. on 7 Mile Beach (forgot the name). Anyone have any imput? I have difficulty getting in and out of the water, so I look for something that has a very gentle slope, or none at all.

Bamboo Beach Club would be very easy if you have mobilty issues but it was the worse excursion we have ever done and would never do it again. The water was full of litter, they didn't want to give you anything to eat or drink and it was totally not worth $5 IMO. I think just going over to Margaritaville and having a drink and relaxing by their pool and on their beach would be a much better choice for something easy. I don't know about other choices, maybe someone else will pop in and suggest something. After spending money for the Bamboo Beach Club we got disgusted, left and then spent more money at Margaritaville and had a much better time.

Thanks Whimsy. Is there a charge to be on Margaritaville's beach? I remember the name of the other 'beach day' excursion for Grand Cayman: "Sea Grape Beach." Supposingly, it's relatively new. Ever hear of that one?

Not through the ship, but in Ocho Rios, you could do an all inclusive at Sunset Jamaica Grande:

It is near the cruise terminal. I haven't been in that one but have done the one in Montego Bay and liked it.

Here are some pictures from Ocho Rios from last December and a number of Sunset:

Sea Grape isn't new other than new to Carnival. It looks like the Carnival trip does include transportation, chair, and a beverage.

Here are some pictures from Sea Grape in 2005. Keep in kind that Hurricane Ivan really tore Grand Cayman up in 2004. You won't see much evidence of that today, but you might in the pictures.

I don't really remember. I think we just bought drinks but I could be wrong. We were there in 2006.

Wonderful pix. I'm glad there are still those who take them. I used to, (and also video), but decided I'd just enjoy the experience as it is. Do you recall any entry fee for either Sunset or Sea Grape? The reason for asking: I'm kinda doing this cruise on the skinny, because I'm cruising again three weeks later. I just couldn't pass up this deal!!!

Thank you.

No admission for Sea Grape if you go on your own, but if you want a chair, or umbrella, or.. .you have to pay to rent them. You can just throw your towel on the sand and plop down for nothing.

Sunset definitely has a charge because it includes food, liquor, and their water park. You would have to email them for the current cruiser rate. It might be $65 per person now - I think I paid $40. Be sure and let them know you are on a cruise ship. They charge more for others, because they don't want to be swamped with visitors from other hotels.

Hope this helps!
