Hi,
Almost time to sail on the Imagination. We booked our excursion to Sting Ray City in Grand Cayman and were looking at Ocho Rios. We really just want to shop a little and go to the beach in Jamaica. Is it safe to walk to Mallards beach? It's right by the pier? or should we go to the beach area by Margaritaville? Any suggestions?
Thanks

Turtle Beach is nearby and the walk was less than ten minutes from the main pier but if you are at the wharehouse pier you will need a taxi. We had a good time in Ocho Rios, my wife went to the Island Village area to do some shopping and to get her hair braided and I went for a Red Stripe at Margaritaville.
After shopping we went to Turtle Beach for the rest of the day. The fee to use the beach was $1 and chairs were $5 and drinks were very reasonable. We sat near a little hut were they had snacks and drinks. Be careful of the rum punch, they were powerful, yea mon, we be jammin!!

Instead of turning right for Island Villiage--turn left- THere is a little mall across the street there that is a lot cheaper then Island village and sells the same stuff.

If your walking to the public beach just be ready for alot of harassment to buy some pot! The margarita beach is more private and you wont get harassed there, except for maybe a few souvenir ladys and you have to pay a couple bucks to get in.

You should not be bothered by street vendors once inside (it cost $1.00 to get in) ...
