My husband an I both in our early 20's did the same. We paid for our taxi upfront roundtrip (it was a like a bus) at port.The only bad part was when looking for your taxi, after climbing the falls, every one wants to show you something. They ask your name as you go into the taxi parking lot searching for your taxi/bus and then start to carve your name into the item. I learned to be courteous but just said no money/cash. And they would move on. Go for it and have a great time!
