can you guys recommend any good off shore excursions on nassau bahamas? ... i was also trying to look for the tour of the hotel atlantis but coudnt find it on the carnival site.. thanks

If you are interested taking a tour of the Atlantis you can get a cab at the dock -- once you get to the Atlantis you can go to the casino and purchase a wrist band ( pass ) that allows you to tour the hotel and especially the " Dig ". You will not be allowed to use the pools, etc. I have forgotten exactly what the cost per person is but I think it's $30 or a little more. It's well worth it.
You can also catch a water taxi from the dock area but it's slow and you will have to walk quite a distance once you get to the docking area. The taxi is much the better deal as it take you to the door.
Carnival does offer a tour of the Atlantis but in this case I would recommend doing it on your own.

do they accept US dollars in the bahamms?

You bet they accept yankee dollars--- all they can get !!
The Atlantis is something to see, especially the Dig. I'm not much of a beach person so cannot comment much on the beaches, snorkeling, etc.
Don't know your likes, dislikes, etc. but a tour of the Atlantis and then back to the dock area for some shopping at the famous ( or infamous ) strawmarket will pretty much fill the day.
Maybe someone else can offer some help on other excursions.

When we got off this ship we struck up a deal with a taxi driver for an island tour. Make sure you come to an agreement on price BEFORE getting in cab. It was GREAT and included a tour of Atlantis.
