We are going on the Constellation in January out of Old San Juan. Thinking of going a day early for fear of not getting a direct flight. Since the Wyndham is across the street from the pier we are thinking of booking there. Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You can't beat it for location. It's a nice enough old hotel and you can walk to the ship (unless it's docked over on the other side of the harbor.) We absolutely loved the entertainment in the plaza directly in front of the hotel overlooking the cruiseships. The music was great and the rum cocktails exceptionally good, and cheap. Try to get a room with some kind of a view. We got assigned one overlooking the roof. There is a nice pool on the roof. Because we were booking back-to-back cruises on different Royal Caribbean ships, they put us up in the hotel for the overnight.

Actually the Wyndam is fairly new, it was built late 90s. The outside of the building was built to fit in with the style of old SanJuan. At least that is what there web site says anyway.

The Wyndham Old San Juan is only about 8 years old as mentioned very close to the majority of the piers and Old San Juan but has small rooms. The Wyndham El San Juan is my all time favorite hotel on the Isle Verde. The lobby is drop dead gorgeous with numerous lobby bars and resturants, a huge casino and beautiful pools and landscaping. It is right on a very nice beach and the rooms are very well decorated with dark Spanish wooden decor. Hotels in San Juan are pretty pricey, so book as far ahead as possible with any discounts you may have. I would book on my own if possible for the best value. Taxi to the port is $18 from the airport; $10 from the Isle Verde, etc.
Bon Voyage
