Old versus New Celebrity Ships

We have enjoyed Summit 3 times but are considering the 14 night cruise on Zenith. Given that it is an old ship and, judging by some of the reviews, is showing its age, should we give it a try or should we settle for a shorter cruise on one of the newer ships? We are also thinking about Galaxy (12 nights out of Galveston). Has anyone done both categories of ship?

We have been on the Summit and the Infinity. We have also been on the Zenith she is a lovely ship, smaller and older but just as nice :) I didn't think she was showing her age but then again I don't really look that close at 'stuff' :grin
We have also been on the Galaxy, Century and Horizon and we loved them all :grin
I'd book the 14 day Zenith :)

Have sailed the Horizon, Zenith and Infinity. Big difference I think is no balconies and of course the Infinity has the large atrium. Older ships have been well looked after. Newer class handles a full ship a lot better also.

Have sailed all Celebrity ships except the Millenium.

Zenith and Horizon are lovely ships, well-maintained with wonderful service. They are, however, older than the other ships and therefore lack the sleekness and more contemporary design of the newer ships in the fleet. They are considerably smaller and have fewer public rooms, but then they're much more intimate than either the Century class or M-class ships.

Zenith is being refurbished in a major way early in 2005. New rooms, etc. It is already an excellent ship, and this should make it even better.

my parents have sailed on numerous RCCI ships. In March they did a 14 nite on Zenith and were disappointed with the ship. It had not been kept up, carpet was buckled in numerous places and over-all the ship was not very clean. They took Zenith several years ago and were excited about taking it again for their 50th anniversary. Needless to say - they were not pleased with the Zenith on this trip. They had several other problems with their sailing (i.e. backed up plumbing, etc.) but this will give you an idea.
