Onboard Service Charge

Hi there! Going on the Escape in 12 days first time on NCL). I know about gratuities, but can someone explain to me onboard service charge?

do you meaning Tipping ? It's just added to almost anything you need to purchase. Drinks, extra food etc. Gratuities are actually an added service charge. Right ?
