Ok, got the money, all the paperwork, tax receipts, etc. Went to the license bureau. I usually use the one In Des Peres, they are rarely buys, but it is in a different county, so I wasn't sure I could get the tax rate for my county, which would be cheaper, so I went to the one out here. So did everyone else in a 20 mile area. Most of our offices have numbers, you take one and sit and wait for them to call it. This office just had a line. I was 9th, and they only had 3 tellers. One guy was at the window for 15 minutes or more. So, I told the people in front of me, and behind me that I was going to go sit down, but I was still in line.
I gave up watching the time, no idea how long I was there, and I hadn't had lunch yet. Finally I got to the counter, paid my tax and license fee, and she handed me the plates marked to expire in Sept 08. "But I wanted 2 year plates". I protested. "That is not available mid year on handicapped plates. They all expire in Sept and we can't pro rate it for next year."
So, I have to get both inspections and license AGAIN in Sept. Sheeeeeesssssshhhh!
I started to say I have never had so much trouble over any license before, then I remembered that they lost my 2003 tags and when I renewed them in 2005, they said I had been driving on expired plates for 4 years. They admitted they had probably lost my paperwork, but if I had been stopped I would still have gotten a ticket. So they reregistered my car, then when I got the plates last Sept, they had found the original registration listed at my old address and you can't imagine how much trouble that caused. Maybe it is just me, lol.
But, it is paid for, titled and licensed and all mine. That is a good feeling.
