We went to Orient Beach last time we went to St. Martin, but I can't remember how we got there, I thought we took a cab. What is this about a water taxi? it is faster and if so where do you catch one? Also was interested in shopping after our "beaching" any ideas on where to do this at? Someone in our group is looking for jewelry. but we like to shop for just about anything!!!!! thank you

Oh my goodness -- jewelry is in abundance in St. Maarten - probably better prices than in St. Thomas. We were there about 4 yrs ago - was able to barter at a shop -- something with Joe in the title -- sorry can't remember the name exactly. Beautiful diamond earrings that were appraised for several hundred $ more than we paid.

I'd be interested in the whereabouts of this water taxi as well.

Water taxi leaves from the cruise pier and makes two stops in town. I believe we paid $5.00 for unlimited use all day.

Sadly, the water taxi does not go all the way to Orient Beach - it's just a shortcut from the cruise ship pier over to Phillipsburg. You'll still need to take a regular taxi over to the other side of the island.

There are plenty of taxis waiting at Orient Beach, or you can tell the one you take from Philipsburg to come back for you at a specific time. They will.
