I am going to book through Art's Shuttle when I go in April -- I am doing this on a recommendation from others on this board.

We are flying into orlando the night prior also and opted to rent a car. We will p/u from Budget and drop it off near the port. They have a free shuttle to take us to the port. Total cost w/taxes is around 38 dollars for a midsize vehicle. The shuttles I checked on were around 20-25 dollars per person each way.

We are renting a car from the Orlando Airport AVIS and touring around Orlando for 2 days before driving it to the Port Canaveral location and taking their shuttle to the port. I hate taking shuttles and would rather spend the cash to have a car for a few days.

Carnival only has transfers on cruise day, not the day before. You'll have to use a van or car service or rent a car. I used a van service it was easier and everyone in our party could relax. The drive to port is 45-60 minutes depending on traffic. Ther are quite a few car and van services available. Check the internet.

Definitely rent a car. That way you are not tied to someone elses schedule and you can use it to drive around Cocoa Beach. If you are luggage heavy like we are, rent a mini van. 2 couples and the luggage went in very well. We always go a day early and stay at the Radison the night before. Avis has an office right at the hotel and a free shuttle service. Howvever, we found that it was easier to use the rental the next day (it wasn't due back until 9) to take the luggage to the ship. My brother and I dropped the ladies with the luggage at the port, drove back to the Radison (about a 10 minute drive) and grabbed the Avis shuttle back to the ship. (total round trip was about 25 minutes) Trying to get all your luggage on their shuttle with everyone else is a real pain. We also booked a rental for the return trip. We got the luggage outside then grabbed a taxi to the Radison ($12 with a generous tip) got the van and went back to pick up the ladies and luggage. It worked out great. Hope this helps.
