Oscar fell yesterday

We have been getting things on the car checked and ready for the October trip. Yesterday we dropped the van off, went next door to visit the nurses at his last hospital stay, and were comming out. He didn't see that there was an 8" step down - - so he and his chair fell, chair ( very big and heavy ) landed on hime. Everyone came running. We got the chair off him, him turned so he could breath, and sent for an ambulance.

All in all , not bad, small broken bone in left foot, sprained ankles, split forehead, scrapes, bruises, etc, etc. He is home, will be bed rest for a few weeks. Otherwise he is just calling himself a big fool.

Me, I'm just glad there were no major breaks or internal stuff.

OHHHH yes, the chair is OK. He was worried about it =COOL

Good that it was no worse than some bruises and a wounded pride! There might be some muscle soreness over the next few days. But take care of YOU too!

I'm amazed, and grateful, that the accident wasn't worse than it turned out to be. I wish Oscar a comfortable and complete recovery.

Thank goodness it wasn't any worse than it was and how fortunate that he has time to recoup before Oct.

Thank goodness Oscar escaped that nasty spill with a few injuries, but those are bad enough! I'm so glad he's going to be okay, he'll be sore, but okay. I know that gave you all a fright! Here's to wishing him a speedy recovery! =hug

So glad it was not worse. My husband before he died had one of those chairs and thankfully he never tiped his over. Came close a few times. How he heals with no problems.

Oh my dear....that is terrible. Thankfully all of the injuries will heal with time (and more than a little pain I know)! I feel so sorry for Oscar...and he's not a fool at all. Sometimes these sudden steps and curbs are not well marked at all and it is easy to "stumble" and fall. We have a couple of lulu places in our town that, in my opinion, are quite dangerous...especially for people with poor eyesight or mobility issues....they could be deadly for people who have both!

Wishing Oscar a very speedy recovery!!

Thank you all. He is doing ok. We have a Dr appt Monday morning with his orthapedic dr. I doubt there is anything to do, other than keep weight off it, and just let it heal. We have found more black and blue ( now kind of greenish :( ) places. His entire left foot and ankle still has some swelling, and almost totally bruised looking. He says it itches so bad. I try to gently put lotion on it, but sometimes even a light touch hurts.

Once again, thank you all for your great support. It means a lot to us both.
