ot---i just saw a horrible car accident

i am feeling very lucky tonight. even though it is friday the 13th.

on my way home from work i was passed very fast ( i know over 100 mile per hour) by a car. it just zoomed by me. i was on a long stretch and luckily no cars were coming towards me. they dissapeared so fast i couldn not believe it .

i knew in my gut i was going to come on to them all smashed up and wrecked.

well, i did on a curve.

the driver was thrown from the car and the passenger was trapped in the front seat. the fire department had to cut the whole top of the car off to get the passenger out because the door could not be opened even with the jaws of live. i could not believe how small the car was crunched together and how banged up it was. of course there we fatalitys. the car that came up behind me was a emergency employee from a local hospital and took control untill the police and ambulance came.

it was very horrible and what a waste. they were drunk and just lost control.

i am glad they passed me when they did and did not hit me from behind in the process.
after i got home, settled down and had a drink, i thought "what if i had been hurt from them and could not have taken my cruise in sept. am i an addict or what?????

PLEASE DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. it is not worth it.

I saw an accident last year when we just got off our cruise from Mexico on the princess and it was a delta steward..... We had just left Delta and had stayed in a motel close to the airport .

His car was completely upside down and smashed.. It happened just as we were coming down the interstate..

I stopped as Im a medic (trained by the army )

and he had just climbed out of the drivers seat... He was in shock and some other people stopped and were just talking to him etc..

I grabbed him , hugged him and took him to lean against the barrier on the interstate until help could arrive

He kept saying as he was looking at his car , I am so lucky
I am so lucky

and he thanked God .. He said , his father had just died, his sister and his mom could not
have stood his death


He said.. I had my bible in the car

I took off my cross , from my neck .. and I pressed it in his hand.. I dont even think he knew it was there , but told him to remember this and always always thank the Lord and dont ever forget his mercy there .....

I left as soon as the ambulance arrived and just dissapeared... I know he doesnt even know but I hope that that cross when he opened his hand would help him remember and that he would know that his life was spared..

I am so thankful everyday for life ..

But yes DONT DRINK AND DRIVE AND take the defensive driving course on the internet

It will save you about 80 dollars apiece every six months on your car insurance or even more ...

what a moving experience for you and for him even though it was a horrible scary one.. im sure besides god he had a guardian angel there that night to help and lead him in the right direction (you).

it is amazing to me how things transpire and wonder the meaning behind them.

lets all be save responible drivers and think before we put the keys in the car.

and i bet that cross is hanging from his mirror in his new vehichle now. reminding him of you and that day.

Yes I think of him almost daily ..

very strange but yes we must try to be responsible drivers .. Accidents happen of course but we are all lucky and I just hate to see accidents and yet they make us think... I hope we can continue to just be safe and in Gods care ...

I am not the best driver in the world but I am starting to think of others and am finding today it has become a pretty rude world of driving .... I am trying very hard lately to consider the other driver and to keep my driving safer ..

Sorry to tell you that I lost my eldest son in a traffic accident just two weeks ago. All traffic accidents are horrible and personal ones even more so.

So sorry to hear of your loss and I can't imagine how you must be feeling. I don't have children, but I cannot imagine how I'd feel if I lost one of my parents or siblings. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.
