This has been an awfull 2 weeks I'll tell ya. Besides my hubby needing a Liver Biopsy, Our 15 yr old Cat Mieke (almost 16 yrs old) lost her sight. It has been coming for about 2 months now. Her eyes have become very cloudy and we could tell she was having trouble seeing. This morning I could tell she couldn't see me at all. I'm home for lunch and placed her in her litterbox to see if she needed to go. She is eating and drinking well. Our vet said at her age this happens quite a bit. Not to change anything around, No loud noises, and speak to her often. My poor Mieke.

aw, sorry to hear this. Poor little thing must be so confused. She'll adjust pretty good, though.

awww, i know exactly how you feel. one of my cats is 17 and i'm afraid she might go while i'm on my cruise for ten days (leave tomorrow). she is so thin and just lays in her bed all day. she can see, but can't hear. she doesn't seem to be in pain, just so fragile. it's sad. i just try to think about all the joy she has brought to my life over the years.

Thank You everyone. She found her litterbox this morning. She seems to be trying to adjust. I hate leaving her alone and going to work. our other cat Jagger is here with her.

It is amazing how quickly animals adjust to this. My 15 yr. old Shihtzu is blind and deaf and he gets around perfectly as long as he is in a known environment. When I take him for a walk I have to be careful that he doesn't run into a tree or something, but inside my apartment, he does fine. He has the ocassional forgetful spell and he'll run into the wall, but he just backs up and tries again. So just show kitty lots of love and affection and he will be fine.

Thanks Nitestar,
She is getting lots of love. I was speaking to her and she came up to our dog Mike and sat in front of him and thought he was me. Mike looked at me so funny. I said "No Mieke I'm over here". Bless her heart. I speak all the time now so she can hear my voice. Our other furbabies know she isn't acting right. I'm so happy they all get along.
