Every year we go to our friends in Sonoma, CA for turkey dinner. This year there was a new guest, the daughter of friends of Rich and Julie's, who had left town and left their daughter behind. Lynette, the daughter, invited my daughter Sara back to her house to see the "lots of animals at my place."

When they returned with an 8 day old miniature Donkey, I grabbed my camera and ran outside. This is my daughter with the little cutie in her arms.

Then when she started mentioning the other animals, and that she had to return the "little girl" back to her mom, I jumped in the truck with my camera and headed out with them.

OMGosh, this was no little place, this was 11 acres of animal rescue, rehabilitation and animal therapy for visitations in hospitals and centers.

I got to play with African wildcats (one who had lost her leg to a tiger!), many parrots (only the ones who don't bite!), miniature donkeys and horses. I admired the zebra and camels from afar, and the turkeys from even afarer!!! LOL!

Lyon Ranch is an amazing place, and the young 18 yr old daughter who takes care of the animals is a delightful woman, who is planning on a career as an animal trainer. She's got the background, the professional references, and the knack, that's for sure!

This was a holiday that will stay in our memories for a long time to come.

Can you arrange for that baby donkey to live under my shed so I can adopt him too?
