Overhang on Infinity cabins

I've heard both good and bad remarks about the "overhang" on balcony class 1A (sky deck) on Infinity. Would appreciate any comments from folks who've stayed in these cabins. I thought that perhaps on an Alaska cruise, it would help protect from rain or elements. Appreciate your help!

I haven't stayed in one, but got a good look, even have some pictures of the "dreaded overhang" while staying in a Cat. 3 corner on Summit. It didn't look that bad to me, and i would certainly agree that it would provide good protection from the elements like for your Alaska itinerary. Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to book a 1a under the "dreaded overhang". But then, I wouldn't book one of those anyway, because I never book a balcony unless it is oversized, and the only ones that are oversize cat.1 are on the stern of the Millie class ships (and those balconies are huge). Of course, none of the cat. 1's hold a candle to the Cat. 3 (FV) cabins, particularly the corners.

Hi Barbow:

I stayed in a 2a on Skydeck. We had an overhang. I liked it because I can't be directly in the sun for long periods. If you were going on a Carribean cruise and wanted to lay out in the sun you probably wouldn't like it, but I think it might be nice for an Alaskan cruise in case of bad weather. I haven't been to Alaska, yet, so I can't say that from experience.

Have a great cruise,
Shari

Had a 1A on the Summit (9154) that had the "dreaded" overhang.....it is not that bad, did not obstruct my vision overmuch except for straight up...and it did protect us from the elements. I would not hesitate to book one of these cabins at all.

We have had the overhang on the Infinity and Summit to Alaska and we didn't find it a problem. :)
Infact it was added protection from the elements as Lisa has stated.
Enjoy :)

We were in 9092 on Millie and had the overhang.......I didn't care for it, but the real problem was we were under the pool grill area and the noise from above was non-stop! So check what's above you before you book!

We've stayed in them and appreciate them in Alaska due to the almost constant mist once you get north of Vancuver.
