Thanks
Did you have a clear day thru the canal or rain?
How was the port in Costa Rica?
Hope they have the pod problem fixed by November!!!!!!!!!
I thought I read a post on a review board that the person said that they were allowed to buy 1 bottle of alcohol the first day of the cruise and take it to there cabin.
Any idea on this? I've cruised 4 times with RCL and found this not to be true.

The weather during our transit of the canal was sunny, hot and humid.
The port we called on in Costa Rica was Puntarenas - a dusty, dirty, depressed town with little (actually, nothing) to offer. Didn't take any shore excursions, so can't say how they were or how the surrounding areas were, but were we to call on Puntarenas again, wouldn't bother to get off the ship.

Our weather was all of the above including the rain. That was cooling but only for a while. You could get everything but most of all its warm and sunny. It's pretty well a full day in the canal depending on what nmber your ship pulls for the day...late or mid morning and it will be ddark for sure when you get out the other side.
Our experience with Puntarenas was tht they could not land there and we docked in Puerto Caldera. There is even less there I think. But great deals on the shed on the dock. We found/walked to a great beach but no shade so we didn't last long. There was NOONE there.
Been there twice and have yet to take a tour. People enjoyed them but said that they were very long bus rides.

We did this cruise in Nov a couple of years ago. Unlike the poster above, we loved Costa Rica and would like to return some time for a land vacation. If all that you saw was the small "town" at the end of the pier, perhaps that gave a different impression, but after we'd seen more and then walked around town, we found the local people delightful and there were some carved wooden "puzzle" boxes to be bargained for as souveniers for folks back home. Might suggest the ships's excursion to Sarchi. Only lasts part of a day and leaves you time to walk around the town when you get back. Bus ride through some of the most lush vegitation, breathtaking views, colorful towns and friendly folks. This way you can say you've ridden on the Pan Am highway. The trip to San Jose, while only 40 miles further than the Sarchi turn off the highway, is another 3-4 hours....too much! Most of the time would be spent on the bus sitting on the Pan Am highway!. Sarchi will offer fresh fruit, wooden products for sale and you will see coffee being grown along the way. Whatever you do, Have fun! It's a great cruise and the canal really is a "wonder"! We spent our first cruise through the canal on the pointy end of the ship from 5:00 AM until we reached the Atlantic breakwater slightly after 6;00 P.M. Going under the bridge of the Americas in the early morning before entering the canal was spectacular as well. We will do this cruise again on the Infinity in December. This time, we're going to watch from the "blunty" end of the ship. If you find anything new or exciting on your cruise in November, please drop a note back on the board to let those of us going later know about it. Have a great cruise!
