Hey, jester, don't pick on my birds! When I was growing up, the Orioles were a great team, and everyone in my family (except for the brother who was dropped on his head) is an Orioles fan! That must've been exciting to be part of a farm system - my husband was a pretty good ball player who had dreams of making it as far as you did - but chose to join the Army when he realized pro ball wasn't really in his plans. But we're both huge baseball fans. We Orioles fans are pretty loyal, you know!
I am still so sad about this repositioning - I e-mailed Carnival, though I don't think it'll help, but I feel I need to let them know that I am really disappointed. To Marshall, I don't have any health issues, other than I don't want to inhale second-hand smoke, but I really struggle with the idea of going back on regular cruise ships. What I worry about is the smokers who are not considerate - and I know that many, many smokers are very considerate - but it just seems like some people get out of control because they are on vacation and don't care about others' feelings. On a previous cruise, we were laying in lounge chairs on the deck, and some man stood next to my loungechair, by my head, and held his cigarette at his side, right by my head. When I politely asked him to move his cigarette he snickered and swore at me under his breath. I don't enjoy the casinos as much as I should be able to, and I can't stand the areas where people congregate outside of the non-smoking areas because it's worse than having segregated areas. We're going on the Mariner in September, and I am hoping that the ventilation systems have improved since our last regular (non-Paradise) cruise, so I don't have to encounter so much smoke. I can only hope that Carnival brings back the smoke-free concept on one of the newer ships, but I do just think I can only hope that will happen - I am not counting on it.
