Paradise vs. Triumph

Can't seem to decide between the two! Notedly, there is a $400 - $500 difference in the total cost for 4 people, Triumph being more expensive. Is there a huge difference in these ships, besides the fact that Triumph is newer? I know the Paradise is non-smoking, which is a plus for us since we don't smoke.

We'll be bringing our children on this cruise, ages 2 and 10. Which ship is better suited for kids? Or does it matter? Also looking at the Carnival Pride, which is more expensive than the other two. As you can see, I'm in a decision bind here! Looking to other cruise goers to give some feedback.

Thanks!

Monique,

My wife and I have sailed on both the Triumph and the Paradise. Were became engaged on the Triumph and honeymooned on the Paradise. Both are among our favorite ships. Paradise is smaller, but by no means small. Both are easy to find your way around. In fact, the only difference I noticed was that the public rooms (not staterooms) were about 20% bigger on Triumph. She did seem to feel a little more crowded, though. Her major advantage over Paradise is that Paradise offers very few balcony cabins.

We did feel, however, that the Paradise's crew and staff were a little happier and more outgoing. Strangely (especially considering her size) the Triumph bobbed like a cork when we were aboard her. The Paradise was smooth as glass. But remember, the ship is only as good as her driver. Also, being non-smokers, we enjoyed being smoke free. The entire ship smelled fresher, food tasted better, and you could actually breathe in the casino!

I wrote a very detailed review on Paradise. Go to the reviews on cruisereviews.com and look for the one by Chris Rego. If you have any other specific questions, feel free to e-mail me!

Happy Sailing!

since your bringing small children i would not suggest you think of the pride.......lots of nude paintings everywhere you look! from the first step on the ship till your in your cabin. the ship is very grown up , dark. its great for a formal event such as a wedding but not a family vacation see my review or email me

CoBob; You lucky cruiser! My husband and I have a 141 day wait for Paradise! I find myself counting minuets sometimes and I know that I am just torturing myself. It's too soon for minuets. In fact, at this point I guess the best thing to do is not look at the clock except once a week maybe. At least until we hit double digits. Is this your first Paradise cruise?

I've been a Paradis twice and recommend it. It's a fine ship and the food was excellent.
