Has anyone parked for the Dawn in NYC? Is it convenient? is it close to the check in area?

I have never parked there, it is very expensive and about a minimum of 3 blocks away. I don't know where you are coming from but a friend or even a car service would be cheaper and more convenient. You will be spending well over $100. to park, and is it safe who knows! I beleive the parking is on 54th St and the ship sails from 51st.

Craig,
The info from Jag, although insiteful, is not completely accurate. I have parked at the pier for a cruise in the past. It was last summer and it was Celebrity not NCL. It was extremely convenient. The parking is above the pier you are departing from. The cost, however, was correctly stated. I think it was $120 for a 7 day cruise. This really isn't too bad. This year I took a car service with a total of 6 passengers (we had a van) and it cost a total of about $300. Since there was 3 couples it still came out to $100 each. This years cruise was on NLC Dawn and there was an interesting change in our debarkation location. We were scheduled to return to Pier 92 (55th Street) but on Saturday night they sent written notification to each stateroom that we would be coming in on Pier 88 (49th street). This obviously was a little less convenient for those that parked. But to be honest, it was probably still more convenient than the hour wait we had for our Van. It was complete madness upon our return. It took us an hour to get out of there. If we had parked a car like last year we would have been out in 15 minutes.

If you need any other info on Debarkation, Embarkation or the Dawn let me know.

can you tell me how you arrange parking at the Pier? do you need to reserve in advance? Do you book through Norwegian or an independent source?

we just parked our car at the pier last weekend...it cost $ 155.00 for the 7 day cruise and you do not need a reservation. It is quite simple to use the parking area. But, be sure to bring cash with you when you go to park, they won't accept credit cards and you have to pay them BEFORE you park the car. any other questions, email me at Jasmine928@aol.com

Parking is very convenient at pier. Its right on the roof better than taking a cab or limo.

They raised the parking price agin. It's now $24/day or $168 for seven days. An alternative is to drop off your luggage and passengers at the port and park at one of the two lots on 59th street bet. 11th and 12th Ave. at $91 to $98 per week. There's a bicycle/jogging path along the river's edge that goes to the terminal. Although the terminal entrance is on 55th Street the docks are in the 40's so you may want to take a cab (about $3).

We arrived on 10/5 and the ship was directed to a different pier than we had left from. The people who had parked on the pier had to walk a bit farther to get to their cars. Again, they mentioned that you must have cash. We were on a bus and arrived around 1:30. The traffic was horrible. I talked to someone who drove and arrived at 11:30. He said it was so congested that he had trouble just unloading his luggage at the curb before going to park.
