Hello,
Cruisin on the Carnival Triumph in December. Wonder if anyone has parked at the pier there. Any advice would be helpful,
Thanks,

For our Carnival Fantasy July 6-11, 2009, we choose to park at the Port Of New Orleans Parking Garage as it is the most convenient. Drive up. Insert credit card or pay cash @ $14 per day. Press button. Take ticket drive up the ramp and there are the porters waiting to take your bags. Drive up one more level and park. Ride the elevator down to go through security, Carnival check in and your in the waiting area. We were sitting in the waiting area by 9:25am. A bit early but time went fast. We boarded at 11:30am and was having lunch on the Lido Deck by 11:50am.
Getting off the ship and through customs was quick using a porter for all our bags. Went up the elevator right to our car. We were out of the parking garage in 3 minutes after loading.

I have heard the parking just recently increased to $16 per day.

We found a deal with Drury Inn for a cruise stay and park special. Since we are coming in the day before we will stay at the Drury and you just pay the first night's parking of $15 and then they let you leave your car at the hotel. The deal includes free internet, drinks at some point in the late afternoon and breakfast the next morning. They do not have a shuttle though, have to take a cab to the port. I think I read it's about $14 for two people. Still a good deal.

The reviews I have read on the Drury have been mostly positive and it is within walking distance to the French Quarter.

Unless the CCL Triumph rates change it is still $14 per day. Still your best deal.

I'm confused. How is that the best deal if you have to stay overnight pre cruise? I looked at rates in December and got a rate of $99 for a king on a Saturday night for an example. With the one night of parking for $15 and the rate of $99 that comes to $114. Of course there will be taxes. Breakfast is included as well as one hour of drinks, one hour of long distance and free internet. Cruise parking for 7 nights @ $14 a day is $98. The way I would look at this is the room is only costing me $16 plus tax and I get other perks too. Of course I may or may not need a cab. We are regular walkers so we will check out the distance the day before and see if it is doable with a carryon luggage. We plan to drop the checked luggage and take the car back to park. Walk or cab it and I believe there is a trolly. Even with a cab for one for $7 plus tip X's 2 for arriving and departing we still would be ahead.

If you know of a better way to do this I'm interested as I know parking at the New Orleans hotels is pretty pricey. I looked and looked, crunched the numbers and this was the best I could come up with a hotel that gets as favorable reviews as the Drury.

I'v heard the same thing, the price is now $16 a day to park at the port.

Drury also went up in price. Im paying $119.99 plus tax, plus $15, about $147 total, but decided to go this way. We are doing a 4/5 B2B, 9 days X $16 would be $144.

Effective July 1, parking at the port went up to $16/day, but is still the best deal I think. The parking is directly on top of the cruise terminal.

There are porters in the garage to take the luggage from your vehicle. Instead of a shuttle bus, you take an elevator to check in. The garage is lighted, patrolled, and secure, since it IS part of the port facility.

There are some pictures on this page that will give some indication of what it is like:
