PASSION ISLAND EXCURSION

My manager from work went on this and told me that it was the best thing they did on their cruise. She said that it was the one excursion that stood out for them the whole trip and it was really wonderful.

We were going to book it but my husband told me that he wanted to bypass any excursion that included lunch since we get it free on the cruise.

Maybe we could get a taxi to the beach and do it on our own. I guess I am going to have to do a little research.

We did it back in 2/02- don't know how it is now, but it was wonderful back then. Lunch is free but so are the drinks( unlimited alcohol beverages included-maragritas, etc...). It was the best excursion of our Western Caribbean cruise with Carnival--beautiful beaches and not crowded--free chairs, umbrellas, etc.... You can canoe over to the island or take the tenders. We took the canoe over but had no choice but to tender back due to "something" we drank while we were there(and I don't mean the water-lol). Friendly staff, etc... We recommend this to anyone who goes to Cozumel.

My wife and I visited Passion Island this past January while on the Summit. The Passion Island Tour is similar to others in that the tour operator will meet you at the pier and take you as a group to the bus(es). The bus ride is about 30-45 minutes, but the time is mainly due to the poor road conditions the last few miles. At the end of the road there is a short (10-minute) boat ride to the area where the beach is located. This is a private location (technically, Passion Island in not an island, just a remote location that is only accessible by private boat). Therefore, it is possible to get on "Passion Island" without buying the tour, but it would be difficult, at best.

Last year I tried to find information on Passion Island via the web, maps, and travel books and never found anything. After being there I now know why; it is privately owned, and not a true island so it does not show-up on any maps.

There are no air-conditioned buildings on the island. Food is OK, but nothing "to write home about." Free drinks are readily available. The amount of time at the beach was about 3 hours. Very nice and clean beach with plenty of room to get away from the others if desired. Overall, nice way to spend the day.

Went in March of 2002. It is PERFECT, except for the snorkling. There are no fish off of the beach. I did notice some fish in the shallow lagoon where the boat tenders, but the watert is too shallow.

The beach, drinks, hammocks, food, and service is GREAT.

My husband and I went on this excursion in June. It was one of our favorite stops. The food was good and it was open bar no extra charges. And the beach was great. It is the perfect get away if you want to relax and enjoy the sun.

Wow, sounds awesome! But, I occasionally read a comment that it is a rip off, that it is not worth the money (through RCI $40.00 a person). If the beach is as beautiful as it seems, and the food and drinks are good, then I would say it is worth it. I guess you can't please all the people all the time! Any other comments?? How does this beach/food/drinks compare with going on your own to Chanukuub sp? Has anyone done both??? Not interested in snorkeling, doing plenty in Grand Cayman. Just want the "Corona" beach experience and a decent lunch, drinks!

Mistake! Passion Island is 70.00! A little steep! Is it still worth it for 3 hours???

This thread was very interesting to me since I had never concentrated on Passion Island once docked at Cozumel. If ship tours are up to $70pp, I would call that expensive. I know the cost of gas has gone up, but $140 for a "beach stop with lunch" for a couple is more than I like to spend especially since I don't snorkle, either.
Mr. Sancho's is supposed to be a great beach area that does not charge an entry fee. Taxi fare each way is about $15 per taxi. There is a beach bar and great food available for purchase. Lounges are available free and rental of watercraft is optional.
Bon Voyage

From what i understand it's a 30-45 min. ride and food and unlimited drinks are included in the price, so with that and a ride thru cozumel i think its worth it.
