Has anyone received a call from RC advising that only Spanish will be used for all communications on this cruise. I returned a call to RC and advised I purchased this in December 2007, and was not told this would be the case, and that it is not possible at this point to undue hotels/air tickets to Panama. They advised they are looking into some kind of compensation. I have traveled many parts of the world, the issue I have is with disclosure at the point of sale. RC advised whatever they do, they must do for all non-Spanish speaking customers. Poor business at the point of sale IMO.

While Spanish might be the first language they do announcements in,you can be sure they will do them in English too............just like any trips outta the US,English is first, followed by several non English announcements..I wouldnt worry about..........

You want compensation for them using Spanish as a primary language?? =huh

No, I want to be compensated for not disclosing the fact that all announcements will be done in only Spanish as was conveyed to me two days ago by on the phone by a RC representative. Having sailed from many ports around the world, I agree announcements are generally made in several languages. This is very unusual, and was explained because the majority of the passengers are from Latin America, this is the decision RC has reached.

I THINK MY USE OF "COMPENSATED" WAS A POOR ONE. WHAT I WAS AND AM DOING IS FISHING FOR AN UPGRADE, OR NOT. I KNOW RC IS NOT AS LIBERAL AS PRINCESS WITH UPGRADES, BUT WHY NOT TRY I GUESS.

No need to shout.

Nothing is going to be in english the whole cruise? That does not make sense.

Why go fishing, if that is what you want just ask for it although I don't understand why you think you deserve anything.

Please note: this product has been sold almost exclusively to guests from Latin America; therefore the services and product have been tailored to their cultural preferences in food and beverage, entertainment and retail. While English language assistance will be provided, the local language will be the primary language spoken onboard. Please check with your local consulate or embassy regarding visa requirements.

This is what is shown on the RCI web site.

Not sure what you mean by no need to shout? As far as fishing for an upgrade, I have asked, as I always do. If you do not, that cleary is up to you. As far as sending me the literature from RC's web site, that is not necessary. I made my reservation by telephone in December, which is also how I was advised several days ago of the above mentioned info. I agree, it does not make any sense, but that is what I was told. There is no question this cruise is intended to build up the Latin American market, utilizing the Port of Colon. That being said, the new information conveyed to me by telephone was not conveyed at the point of sale. Not a big deal I agree, however it was RC who advised they are considering something (what I do not know) for the miscomuniction/understanding. Why would I not accept. In any event, It will be a enjoyable cruise.

Just read on another baord, the Indepedence outta Southampton(UK) is now called an immersion cruise(all British geared things such as food)........as is the Rhapsody(?) in the orient..........another immersion cruise.........all Asian...........so it looks like you are not alone..............seems like RCCL is big into "immersion" cruises now....

Ewheel said you shouted because your font was all in capital letters............thats shouting (on the computer)..

I understand, and I think the idea is a great one. No matter what, it is a great itinerary. Hopefully, like Princess exploring more remote locations, a sign of things to come.
