Piano Bar

With so much to do on-board, I still seem to always find myself at the piano bar. Aside from catching a late comedian, the piano bar is the place to be! I enjoy the fact that it's a smaller lounge, thus more intimate. Being a musician myself, I have no interest in karaoke, and I've yet to go to one of the big "Vegas" style shows. Maybe I'm missing out... My next cruise is my first on a Spirit class. I can't wait. I've heard it's a well laid out ship. Anybody want to share some thoughts on the Spirit class vs the rest?

I've enjoyed the Legend and the Miracle...in fact I'm heading back on the Miracle next Spring. The Spirit class is my favorite because it's laid out beautifully. Easy to navigate...large-yet not as mammoth as the new ships coming out lately. And these ships are quite beautiful. Some may say too gaudy/neon. But I love it.

As for the Vegas type shows I say you ARE missing out. These people put their hearts and souls into these shows and I find them quite entertaining. I love the live big bands and the band often stays onstage and plays great music after the shows. I like piano bars too...but big band music? How can you not love it? :)P):thumb

We had a great time on the Miracle and loved hanging out in the piano bar. The piano player was Mike. We did some nice Jimmy Buffett duets.

I like the piano bar as well. Spent lots of time there while on the Valor. It was never crowded (guess it wasn't the "in" thing to do) It was very layed back and late in the evening the Comedian would come in and play as well as tell some "adult" jokes that he could not include in his act.

Depends a lot on who is playing in the piano bars. Some of the players draw standing room only crowds all night long. Ron Pass or one, however Ron is almost always on the largest and newest ships. He is on the Valor I believe this fall. Carnival usually sends him to join the new ships often for the first few months. One of the other boards has a thread dedicated to the piano bar players and a list of who is playing on which ships at which dates.

I've seen a lot of talent in the piano bars, most recenly Duane on the Valor last Feb. Got up and did a few Eagles tunes with him. Also got to know the soloist Paul T (no longer at sea with Carnival) and he let me borrow his guitar and play a tune at the Casino Bar. Gave him a chance to grab a smoke and me a chance to show off a bit!!

We really enjoyed Tony Ray on the Triumph last December. The guy in the Piano bar did not draw much of a crowd all week. Matter of fact you could find a seat at the piano at any time during the evening. So we spent our evenings at Tony Rays piano out by the Casino. He was very entertaining. After we had sat there a couple hours one evening making request and singing along. He laughed and said he was not use to having such a captive audience. He was use to everyone stopping and listening a little while then moving on. We had quite a little group gathered with one a couple evenings.
Don't know if you can tell from the picture or not be he did a pretty good Elton John.
