Please compare NCL sun to RCCL Voyager Class ships

My wife and I have been on four Voyager class ships in the last four years and now we are booked on the 10/30 sailing of the NCL Sun.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has experience on both ships. The things I'm most interested in are comparison of staterooms (we always do at least a balcony), food quality, overall luxury of the ship, etc.

Obviously the biggest difference is Freestyle cruising, and I'm not sure if that's going to be a pro or a con. My wife and I enjoy sitting at large tables and meeting new people, and we enjoy the formal nights. We like any excuse to wear a tux and gown.

Thanks in advance.

You'll probably be the best dressed couple on the ship. But there will be others dressed to hurt as well, on the optional formal night. I only dress up for very, very formal occasions, like wedding and funerals.

The Sun is only half the size of the Voyager class ships. So, it should be significantly less crowded. But it's not too large to cruise through the Panama Canal. The largest isn't always the best.

The Sun has nine restaurants and eleven lounges while the Voyager class has six restaurants and twelve lounges. Although the Sun is half the size, it has as many places for activities to keep you entertained.

The biggest difference between the two cruise lines, besides the size of their ships, is NCL's Freestyle dining vs RCL's Traditional dining. Go with expectations of having a great time, that not any cruise is perfect, and you will have a great time.
