Please pray for Pucci

My little sweetheart was bitten by a scorpion on his paw this afternoon. I rushed him to the veterinary hospital after calling to alert them. Both Vets and all the Techs took Pucci immediately to treat him. My friend, Jean, had just stopped by my house to bring something and she accompanied me to the hospital with Pucci. After Pucci was checked out and given shots, the Vet brought him to me and we sat in an examining room for several hours, with me holding ice on his swollen paw. Just got home now. He seems to be putting weight on his paw so I'm praying he'll be alright. Scorpion bites can be lethal to dogs.

I would appreciate your prayers that Pucci will be alright. Thank you.

Oh my. I know he appreciates that he received prompt treatment. Frasier and I, along with the rest of the family, send good wishes and prayers to our little friend and his Mama.

Thank you so much. Pucci took his usual meds and ate some dinner - not much - tonight. He continues to walk on all four legs, but looks a bit loopy from the treatments at the hospital. My stomach is in knots.

Just home from work and had a panic attack when I say the heading for this thread. So glad that he is doing OK. My heart was pounding. Prayers from here and all 4 of mine for a speedy recovery.

Strange, yesterday we were discussing the risk for scorpion bites in the Phoenix area (a friend is going there in a couple of weeks), and I was just wondering about how dogs avoid being bitten - now I know that it can happen. Hope everything will be OK with the little guy!

Pucci slept well (in fact, Sleeping Beauty is still in bed, which has been his habit again for awhile). It appears that the swelling in his paw has gone down. His Mommy, on the other hand, didn't sleep much.

I'll report again later in the day - please God, with good news.

Erik - we've had problems with scorpions in the house for several years now, ever since the back yard was re-landscaped from being solid grass to a combination of gravel (desert landscaping) and a smaller area of grass. Thousands of dollars have been spent "sealing" the house against them, but there's no guarantee.

There are a number of venomous insects and reptiles in Arizona.
