We are planning on cruising in January on the Triumph. I am not yet booked but have been told about a cabin (6b as we are not doing a balcony) that is just under a restaurant. Does it get noisy early in the morn? What other locations should we or others reading this not consider? Would we be better off just staying on 6a on the Riviera deck and have rooms above us but unknown below us? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks!

Recently on the Carnival Sensation, we stayed in a midship cabin on the Riviera deck.
There was absolutely zero noise throughout the entire cruise and we wouldn't hesitate to get the same cabin again on future cruises.

Whatever you do...stay away from the LAUNDRY ROOM...we were on the Destiny last year...upgraded to 9190 on the Lido Deck...Laundry Room opposite our cabin door...does anyone know how aggravating the zipper on someone's jeans in the dryer can be at 3AM ???

People literally hung out in this area all day and night...like it was a social club...once I opened our door to exit and a man fell into our cabin...he was leaning on our door while chatting with his new laundry buddies !!!! We ended up complaining so much that they gave us 10% off this years cruise.

The laundries are not on all floors...so check w/ Carnival...when we booked for this year we refused the guarantee and took a floor w/o laundry...

emt562 - I stayed in the exact same room on the Destiny in April 2002, and heard absolutely no noise from the laundry room. I guess everyone on my cruise did their laundry during the day ;)

Stayed under the galley on the Inspiration. Really noisey midnight to 2am. When I took the galley tour I realized it was because our cabin was directly under the POT SCRUBBING room so the carts that transpot the pots across the grids where what we would hear.
On the Destiny we were above the disco and all we heard each night was the bass thumping till early am.
From now on I will only book on a deck between other passenger decks and not between any of the public decks.

Thanks for all your replies! I'm thinking maybe I should book the 6a on the Riviera deck instead of the one above so I will have cabins above me. the only thing is, I don't know what is below me!! My last cruise I was on the Paradise, riviera deck mid ship and we occasionaly heard strange noises that sounded like metal hitting metal. We talked to someone at the Purser's desk who basically said they did not know what it could be, sorry.

Make sure when you book a 6A that you are not toward the aft of the ship. My husband and I ended up about 3 cabins from the aft end of the Paradise one year and there was a lot of engine noise. It was really bad when pulling in and out of ports as they were turning the pods and revving the engines to get going. Try to book mid ship and you won't go wrong!

Have Fun!

Just got off the glory 27 sept, we were on main deck (2) the 4th cabin from the front and it was very noisy sounded like metal containers were colliding, this was our first time in the front, all other cruises we were aft or mid and had no problems with noise. On the glory we were moved half way thru the cruise and were put on 6 deck 3rd cabin from the rear. Great cabin except from about 6pm till midnight the cabin was directly above the band in the aft lounge. This was not much of a problem because we were out of our room from 5:30pm to 1 or 2 am. Have fun!

I was on the Fantasy, Rivera deck aft (last outside cabin) and it was very noisy pulling into and out of ports. If you are an early morning person, those cabins would be fine. However, I'm not an early morning person, so I wouldn't want to stay in that area again.

On my last cruise I turned down an upgrade that had an extended balcony because I didn't want to be under the pool. I like to be below cabins but don't worry too much what I'm above. Haven't been next to or across from anything noisy so far.

Thanks again everyone for your replies. When I look at deck plans it looks like a lot of cabins might be in undesirable locations because of what is either below or just above them. Surprisingly I would have thought a lot more people would have responded to this thread. We ended up booking the 6b mid ship. A dining room is just above us. I have heard that the galley might be noisy but I have never read of the restaurant. If I eventually upgrade to a balcony, it could be the 8a but that is just above all the bars, discos, etc. Sounds like it could be very noisy late at night. We usually turn in around 12 or 1 so a disco til 3 am would be pretty bad for us. I would hate to have a cruise ruined all because of picking the wrong cabin!
