Points for Carnival cruises using their master card?

I recently went on a Carnival cruise and used their master card for booking and while on the ship. Are the points you accumulate enough for two people to take a cruise and how does that work? Has anyone used their card and gotten a cruise for using it? I've got the card; I just finished a cruise, but I guess I'm clueless how the point system works. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks in advance.

Did you get a packet with your card? There should be a space on your bill which lists your # of points and a phone # you can call. We don't have that card but, to give you an example-for free airfare from Baltimore to Florida we need $20,000 in purchases.

I have the card and have already redeemed a $500. certificate towards my current cruise. It takes 86,000 pts. for a free cruise for 2 for 7 days in an interior cabin. It would take 100,000 pts. for an ocean view.

IMHO, it is better and easier to redeem the pts. for a certificate rather than on a cruise.
It takes 9,000 pts. for a $200 cert., 23000 pts. for $500 and 46,000 for $1000. One point is $1.00 I use the card for everything possible, the car insurance, dentist, groceries, etc. The main thing is to keep it paid off every month. That way the freebies are really free. It is like they pay me to cruise and I sure can't refuse that deal!!

There are limits on sailing dates, ships, room choices, etc. with the free cruise. With the certificate, I can find my own TA, ship, sailing date, cabin, etc. and book at my leisure.

The only thing I don't like is that when you call to redeem the pts., they give you a long, long number to write down. There is no written certificate or anything to print off. They reassure me that it is sent directly to Carnival. Just be sure your TA knows it is CapitalOne as MBNA has a similar program.

Hi,

I just redeemed my points for $1000. off my cruise. You just call and get that long number. Wait about 48 hours for CCL to get listed in its computers.. You call them and give them the number and they credit your account. As a previous poster said there are limits on the free cruises but not on the certificates. The only drawback is that you can only use 1 certificate. If you had enough points for a1000 and a 500 dollar certificate, you could only use one. I feel you are going to use a cc anyway so you might as well get something for it. Capital one is making something everytime you use it so why shouldn't you.
