Port Antonio - Have you been there?

We just booked the Zenith going to Port Antonio and Grand Caymen. I always look for reviews from fellow cruise fans when visiting a new port, but haven't been able to find much information about Port Antonio. I've heard that shopping isn't great there, and that's fine. But I'm hoping that someone can direct me to a great beach for snorkeling and sunning.

Thank you!

When are you going on the Zenith? We booked it for November and they have changed
that port to Key West on our sailing...... someone told me that they had quit going to
Port Antonio. We are on the November 19th - 5 night sailing.....

Boymom,

We're booked on the Nov. 14th five night sailing, and I just checked the Celebrity website. No changes so far.

Yes, I looked too and I see that they are showing that they alternate between Key west and
Port Antonio.......... so I guess my information about switching them was incorrect....

we will be boarding when you are leaving........ wave at me!!!!

Hi. dh and I are also on the Nov. 14th Zenith. I have not found much on Port Antonio except that Blue Lagoon (from the movie) is there and people have told me that it is one of the most beautiful places in Jamica. There is the Martha Brae river there that people raft on, but there are many hawkers similar to those at Dunn's Rivers Falls that made me dislike that a lot (just my opinion). I am really looking forward to this cruise. Second time on the Zenith for us. I hope they do not change us to Key West. Would much rather explore the Blue Lagoon. deb

We were switched from Port Antonio to Key West also, we're on the 11/5 sailing, but when I checked today we are back to the original itinerary. If you think you were switched it might be worth a look again.

We are on the November 5th sailing as well. I was disappointed at first that they cancelled Key West so I'm happy to see the change back.

I think that Celebrity might have scrapped Port Antonio all together, it is no longer listed on the Shore Excursions pages as a Celebrity stop.

Hope to meet up with you on the cruise Jam!

I think you are right Luckyroot. I checked after reading your post and sure enough Port Antonio is gone and again replaced with Key West. This has happened twice so far. Thankfully they didn't change the port day in Caymen---Captain Marvin's is going to think I'm crazy if I keep switching my reservations:)

Until today, I did not even know where Port Antonio was (so you can safely assume I have not been there - though I have been to Jamaica). However, there is an article on Port Antonio in Islands magazine (September / October 2005 issue). It starts on page 60 and runs 13 pages. So I am guessing (I have not read the article yet) that is covers some information you might find helpful / interesting. You can go to Islands.Com for more info.
