Port Everglades transfer - using public transit

Hi,
we will be going on Infinity departing Port Everglades on 3/29.
Looking for a way to get to the port cheaply, I found a public transport connection from MIA airport using TriRail commuter train and the FLA2 bus to the terminal.

Has anybody used that service before? Does it work?
At $4, it is a steal compared to the private alternatives (and as Europeans, we are more used to public transport than a rental car.)

I have been in Miami on business before and found the area fairly easy to navigate.

My only concern about public transportation is all your luggage, especially with the bus.

Does the FLA2 bus take you right inside the cruise ship terminal? or will that require a taxi from the bus terminal to the cruise terminal?

We have been walking with about the same amount of luggage for a few miles (we tend to travel lightly - I travel a lot, having visited 19 countries on 3 continents in the last 12 months, so I know what to leave home:) .)

The bus goes into the port, to the midport garage where Celebrity recommends guests to park their car, so it should be just a short walk to the pier.

We will have to change from a shuttle bus to the train to the FLA2 bus, but unless it is very crowded I do not see a problem (unless it is unreliable).
If it should be too crowded, we can always take a taxi from the FLL airport train station - still saving a lot of money compared to the $100+ the cab companies quote for a ride from MIA airport to Port Everglades, or the $35 per person (plus 9% fuel surcharge and tip) for a shared ride. As the train takes only 32 minutes, a cab should not be much faster.

Anyway, we'll try it and I will report here how it turned out.

I have ridden the Tri Rail before but it was from the Miami airport to the Ft Lauderdale airport. I know there was free transport on a shuttle from the FLL train station to the airport. Same thing in Miami. I would think a taxi from the FLL train station to the cruise port would be inexpensive and much more convenient luggage-wise. When I rode, I had a laptop bag and one roll along and it was managable but with a lot of luggage it might be difficult. You are correct though, the price is right.
