Our last cruise was in 1996. Can anyone tell me how long does it take to get on the ship these days? We plan to stay near Port Canaveral the night before so we can get an early start. Just what to expect time wise and security wise. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

i cruised from port canaveral in 02...it takes about an hour from the airport in orlando on the bus...we went on the sovereign of the seas and embarking went fine, we didn't have to wait long...they just check you in the security but it's quick

If you arrive at the port around noon, expect to board the ship in less than an hour. It could take a little longer if you arrive later due to the crowds.

On our last four cruises we have arrived at the pier between 10:30 and 11 AM. We have been onboard by 12:30PM and enjoying lunch in the buffet.

Embarkation usually starts around noon, and by 1: 30 or 2 PM there is usually a big crowd and a long wait. Try to avoid that rush if possible.

Thanks to everyone for the information. We will try to get there around 11:00am. Hopefully that will be early enough. Thanks again:)

Hi

Yes we just went in April 03 and it took us only about a half an hour to board ..

We got to the port canaveral about 1045 am and we went directly to the line where you get your sign and sail card and check in .. Fill out your form for the Bahamas if that is where you are going and have it ready that saves time .. Lots of people are standing around at the tables filling them out ..

And they have nice rows of seats to sit in and if you are there by 11 you should get into one of those rows of seats and they file you very nicely and you get on board real fast there ..

Also we stayed in Port Canaveral at the Raddison there at the Port and we got a free shuttle over to the Port .. The lady at the desk tried to tell us that the Fantasy would not let you board until 1 pm but It was not true and we went early anyway .. and got on early .....

Also the night before there is a free ship that you can go out on for free and gamble if you want or just go up and listen to the music on the deck .. It is a gambling boat but they dont charge you to go on it and the buffet which is sandwiches and snacks is free also ....

It was sort of fun but if you go on that ..... Make sure you just spend all your time going around to the dollar machines and collecting money DRUNK people leave in the machines

I found 40 bucks just checking machines .. some had like 2 dollars still left in the machine as credits and others were just lying in the trays .. Craziest thing I ever saw and if I went again , thats all I would do .. Go on all three levels checking all the machines as drinks are free I believe and people get zonked ..
