What process is followed when driving to the pier in Baltimore? Luggage dropped off first and then park? Any shuttle buses from the parking area to the pier? How about after the cruise? What is the daily/weekly rate for parking?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

There is a luggage drop-off in the parking lot. You will see the large containers and the longshoremen who take your bags. Once you leave your bags, find a place to park, then wait for the bus for the three minute drive to the ship. The busses run constantly. It's incredibly efficient and very convenient. If I remember correctly, the cost is $7/day, payable in cash and in advance.
On your return, you will collect your bags at the pier as you usually do, and take a bus back to the parking lot. Again, convenient and efficient.
Enjoy your cruise!

Parking is now $10 a day and we are doing back to back so it's going to be $210 for us. OUCH!!! Still worth it to drive, we are from RI and we stay in the Inner Harbor the night before. Have a great cruise.

Wow, big jump in parking fees but still cheaper than airfare. And less of a hassle. We used this port in October of 2001 for the Zenith to Bermuda, right after September 11th when NY was closed. We're going again in a couple of weeks.

Make sure you tip the luggage guys in the parking lot at least a few bucks a bag. I have the last 2 cruises and my luggage arrives in my room very fast. I have a feeling that there are behind the scene stickers or tabs that are placed on your luggage that identify the generous travelers.

I really believe if you give the port guys a good tip your luggage will be given priority to a ship porter for delivery.

Mine luggage always gets into the room in less than 2 hrs.

Well,, maybe, its because we always book the Penthouse Suites. I dont know which it is, I thougth it was the extra tip. But, maybe its the stateroom we stay in.

Robert,
Hello from another Robert from the hudson valley.
We are going on the May 10th cruise for 11 days out of Baltimore aboard RCI Granduer of the Seas.
Are you going to be aboard?

I checked the Port of Baltimore web site and it still had a $7.00 a day parking rate listed.
Maybe they have not updated it yet for this year.
Still even $10.00 a day is a lot less then you can pay at an airport to fly to Florida to take a cruise.
We paid $16.00 a day at Newark for 9 days to take our last cruise in January this year.
The car trip to Baltimore will be a breeze and a lot cheaper all around, no airfair, no hotel, no high price parking, etc.

If we don't see you aboard our ship, have a great cruise anyway.

Bob also known as the duke of Cornwall.

Some advice on leaving from the Port of Baltimore. If possible avoid showing up right at the embarkation time. Between the nearby folks and the busses coming in from the surrounding area, you can be in for a royal jam up port side. We traveled last spring on Celebrity from POB and even though we had Captain's Club status, which allowed us to avoid the long check in lines, we fstill ound ourselves in line anyway at the security check area. It was a cold, misty day, and even tho the ship had put up canopies, the wind and rain sneaked in on us anyway, Had we waited until about the mid point of the embarkation window, we could have just walked on with no waits.

What time do you suggest for carefree embarkation? We are also Captain's Club members but sometimes it doesn't mean a thing.

We waited 2 hours last time and our captain club members, all depends on the time the ship gets into port. If its late, forget it,, we all wait. If it comes in on time,, 10 am, then at 1 30 you will be fine,, no lines.

I am from Baltimore. Be warned if arriving the day of the cruise that our rush hour traffic on 95 and 695 is horrible.
