The port hole cabins are beautiful. It is fun when you are on the lowest deck and you can see the ocean water hitting your port holes.lol. Luci

We have had portholes a couple times, and they allow light in, but that's about it.

The view out the window is quite a bit different with a porthole than a regular oceanview window. A porthole is about 2 - 3 feet deep. Kinda like looking through a telescope. You have to be up at the window looking out to see anything specific. Otherwise it is just for light. A regular window you can see out of it from across the room. Here's a pic:

My problem with them is that they are at the very front of the ship, which for me meant motion sickness. I said NEVER again. Other than that, they were nice, but like the others said, no real view, but lots of light.
