Corky and denny could do with a few positive thoughts.
I received this from her today while I was out.

From Corky
Den had an accident at work yesterday morning, a spring from a garage door he was fixing, sprung. He now has two arms in casts...his right hand...the 3, 4, 5th fingers are cut to the tendon and bones crushed. Surgery was done last night, plates put into his fingers, pins wouldn't hold the breaks, all seems well. His left arm...big gash that needed many stitches. The cast type bandage for the gash will come off tomorrow. His right hand is going to be a work in progress.

We are at the hospital now, I went home and got my laptop and did a few things this morning. I don't know if he gets to go home tonight or tomorrow. "

So if it has already been mentioned, forgive me. I am not taking time to search any other board but this one.

Red- Thnx for posting. Update is: He is spending another night in the hosp. He is doing lots better though, and has almost made it 4 hrs w/o pain meds. That is a big step from getting a shot every couple of hours. They are very adament that he is not to allow himself to get into a lot of pain...once the pain sets in it is too hard to get rid of again.

He still has to stay in bed and has compression thingies on his legs to fight off blood clots. I did help him up once this afternoon, the nurse said that was ok as long as it was just sitting up a bit, and standing a bit.

He had a wonderful lunch of melt in your mouth pork chop w/ brown gravy, potato salad, pinto beans, yellow squash, corn bread, butterscotch pudding and tea. This hosp. has the best food and is very popular with the locals here in town at lunch and on Sundays, too.

I'll go home tonight around 8 and get a good night sleep. I will holler again when I can and :thankyou: everyone for your good thoughts being sent his way!

So hard for Denny as he needs those hands to work...so prayers on the way for complete recovery for him.

Keep ahead of that pain too, that's what those meds are for.

...and Corky, only you could make that hospital food sound good (lol)

God bless, and hugs for both of you (((((Denny & Corky)))))

OMG! Corky, Denny! OMG!:(

Prayers goes without saying ....

How horrible! It's been a hell of a tough year for you guys, and now this! So glad that you have such a good trauma center down there. The next couple weeks are going to be really hard, but have every confidence he'll pull through.

Personal for Denny: Dang brother! You do know that there are better ways to meet cute nurses, don't you? Oh, it was the food huh? Well, OK. That I can understand .... Seriously, get well soon buddy. Need you back onboard ...

Mornin' Glories!! It is almost 6 and I am up and having my 1st cup of java, getting ready to jump in the shower and head on over!

One good thing is that we live smack-dab in the middle of both of our hospitals and we can be at either in under 5 mins. One is public and one is private. We normally use the public one and that is where we started out on Thursday, but the hand doctor was doing surgery at the private hosp. on Thurs, so we bundled Den in the car and off we went. There is a HUGE difference in the two places....from cleanliness, to the staff in general, and, to the food...I kid you not when I say his food has been restaurant quality. Like a good Mom-N-Pop place. Plus, this hosp. it much quieter. I am so happy we had to go there, it has made a world of difference to the two of us in comfort and care.

Anyway - when I left last night he was comfortable and not in a lot of pain, maybe on a level of 2 he said. I set him up on the side of his bed and then straightened all of his sheets and covers, got him laid back down, and tucked in. He was fine and I know he was looking forward to a better nights sleep. I know today will be tiring as after his release we need to go to the Ortho's office, and, he has a lab appt. at his other doctors to do. So we'll see how our day goes.

I will follow up later, and I will pass along you kind words for Denny. I read what was on here to him last night before I left the hospital and he said...Ah, that's sweet.

So...thanks for being so sweet!! :sunny:

More good thoughts and prayers coming from MN with Jan's.

I am sorry to read about hubby's nasty accident. If I could come and tak over some of your gardening/canning chores I certainly would! If I remember right you're the peach lady too aren't you!?

Best wishes for a full recovery for hubby and also strength for you as his caregiver. I'm sure he'll have some crabby moments you'll have to deal with.

Hugs to you both,

Kay
