I think it's pretty close to what you would pay if you purchased drinks individually.

These coupons are more intended to be purchased as a bon voyage gift for the cruisers by someone who is not going on the cruise.

Purchase bar coupons only to prepay your bar bill only. The savings is only like 25 cents per drink. THey are not good for all drinks either. But if you like the frozen drinks that is what I use them for.

Here is a bar menu-- http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2752283290062547426mvydeS
see if you can find drinks that cost 4.50 to warrant the bar coupons.

A better idea-- is take 25.00 and by a funship dollar. then there is no worry about using the coupon for a drink that will lsoe you money.

Funship dollars are money that is applied to your shipboard account.
I buy one each pay so by the time I cruise I have accumulated quite a bit.

I, too, was wondering if the pre-paid bar coupons were a good idea. On Carnival, you get four bar coupons for $19.50. That breaks down to about $4.87 per drink. Well, the coupon says it INCLUDES gratuity. So, if you just buy a glass of the house chardonnay, the cost is $5.46 including gratuity. I wrote down all of the prices of the drinks we had when we went on our last Carnival cruise. All of the drinks, except maybe the "daily special" or beer, were at least what the cost of the wine was. If I bought 4 glasses of wine with the coupons, I would save $2.34 (as opposed to not using the coupons). So, it seems like it would be worth it to me if you are buying drinks that are at least $4.50 with the coupons. I am going to call in the morning and make sure about the gratuity thing. I hope this helps

the coupons DO include the 15 % gratutity so no tipping is needed when you you purchase a drink using the coupon.

Here is an updated bar menu.

You wont be able to use coupons for drinks that cost more then 4.75
(which leaves out a lot of wine..or special martinis.
a glass of chardony is 4.75 plus 15% =
is not a huge savings--
do no tget the coupons in the hope to save money-- but get the coupons to prepay your bar bill

you must order the coupons ahead of time from the carnival web page under gifts. you will find them under specialty items.
you get the coupons at dinner the first night (unless you are sailing the destiny-you will get them the second night)

you get 4 attached coupons that can be used for any drink up to 4.75 (frozen drinks is what i get) you get a waiter or a bartender-tell them what you want-hand over a coupon and thats all. some will ask your folio number. nothing to sign. coupons are already paid with a prepaiod gratuity- and your bar drinks are already prepaid
