Price Drop - TA Got Us Awesome Upgrade!!!

I am very, very happy right now. I had heard about another Victory sailing in March dropping in price, so I went to see how much the March 23 Victory prices had dropped - and they had dropped quite a bit (almost $200). I called my TA to see if she could just get us some kind of onboard credit - we would've been happy with $25 or $50. I told our TA that we really didn't want an upgrade, as we chose our 8A aft balcony cabin specifically for the type of balconies in the aft. I half-jokingly told her we would only take an upgrade if we could get into a 9A, which I thought could never happen.

Anyway, my TA called me back a little while ago and said that Carnival wasn't real hot on giving onboard credits OR upgrades, but they were gonna try and upgrade us a couple decks, but my TA told them know they like their cabin and only want an upgrade if they can have a 9A, and of course they told her that was a much higher price than what we paid. She ended up getting a supervisor on the phone and telling them the price drop was significant enough we deserved something and the supervisor agreed to put us in a 9A - Cabin 7422 on the Empress Deck. Yeah!!! I immediately expressed my undying love and affection to my wonderful TA.

I am booked on the Conquest for the 3/9/03 sailing and found that prices had dropped since my original purchase. There were no upgrades available but my agent was able to get me a 200.00 shipboard credit. Although this did not completely make up for the price difference I am satisfied that I am able to get some back. It sure is nice having the TA to help me out and am happy that Carnival gave the credit.

That's great new's for you, i'm sailing on the victory May 18 and i would like to know where do you guy's go to look for the prices? any website you could give me?.

I always check buycruises and bestpricecruises first. But I also check Carnival's website, because it will still show how much they have dropped prices since I booked (as I checked their price before I booked).

tjpeeb.......i will also be on the 3/9 Conquest. I had heard about prices dropping and called my TA for her to check into it. I've yet to hear back from her. Is it true that if you have already made final payment that they can't do anything about it??? Someone had told me this somewhere. If I can get some money back, I would surely like to !!

I had already made the final payment before I was given the onboard credit. I would call your TA again and inqure about getting a crdeit/upgrade. See Ya in a few weeks:)

Who was your TA that did such a great job for you? I had a similar situation recently and Carnival wouldn't budget originally, but my TA (cruiseshopping.com) finally arranged for me to upgrade from an outside guarantee to a balcony guarantee for $100. It was well worth it, but it would have been nicer if I hadn't had to pay anything extra at all.

(By the way, I knew that I wanted to upgrade because I used the Kelly method - that's you, right? - to find out what cabin I had been assigned to. I had been assigned a 6A cabin based on a 5A guarantee. Knowing this made it easy to make the decision to pay an extra $100 for the balcony. So, Bravo to the Kelly method!!)

My TA, Sherry, is a local TA at a cruise agency here in Illinois (Naperville). She is a wonderful TA and really went to bat for us. She is always great about returning phone calls or emails too. I just can't say enough good things about her. If you email me, I would be happy to give you her contact info.

Thanks you Kelly for your post! Can you believe,, I read it at Cruise Critics and not here....I am a regular fan here but post pretty exclusively on the "Community Board" Anyway due to your post, I ended up with an upgrad too for our Spirit cruise on March 16th!
