Reply seemed kind of snippy to me. We've always figured on $100 a day for our shipboard bill. That would include, souvenirs, gratuities, drinks, etc. Even though all drinks come with a 15% gratuity added on we usually will tip an additional dollar for servers who go above and beyond ordinary service, such as, they quickly remember our names and what we like to drink, are always smiling and happy. We even hunt them up on the last day with an envelope containing an additional tip. Prices for drinks, say $4.00 for a Bud, $5 - 6 or so for a premium import or micro brew, $6 -7 for a mixed drink, and around $8 - 9 for a martini. Those are ballpark figures.
One thing to remember, all those servers, bartenders, waiters, room stewards are putting in long hours, and working hard. We always have treated them like equals, as partners in our cruise. Some people just don't get that. You will see those of who I speak.
Enjoy the cruise, Paul S
