We are going on Pride of America in January for a 7 day cruise. What is the ship like? do they have hawaiian cultural stuff on board, like a luau? My parents are traveling with us and my mom and dad really want to take us all to a luau. We overnight in Maui...any good luaus on maui? Less cheesy and more cultural would be prefered!!!!

Old Lahaina Luau on Maui is rated one of the best in the islands. The one thing you need to know about this luau though is that the show portion is strictly Hawaiian dance and chants...you will not see fire dancers here! OLL is a buffet and seating is on traditional mats or regular tables and chairs. (I think they are arranged as long rows of tables and chairs)

Another excellent choice on the island of Maui is the Feast at Lele. This is a somewhat more "elegant" presentation. You will sit at a table with your own party and will be served each course restaurant style. At this production you will be introduced to the food, dance and culture of all of Polynesia. (Tahiti, Cook Islands, Samoa, Hawaii and Aotearoa New Zealand)

Enjoy your cruise! Aloha

I concur with Beryl on doing the Old Lahaina Luau. You'll need to rent a car for the day to get there which you can do through NCL's excursions. It is WONDERFUL! We did mat seating so we were closer to the dancers, but table seating is available.

There are some Hawaiian cultural activities onboard, but we didn't take part in any. No luau on board. Enjoy!
