And what will happen to the second haul construction and the fate of the Norway.
In more bad news for Pride of America, Norwegian Cruise Line's almost-completed-yet-partially-submerged newbuild, its shipyard -- Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven, Germany -- has now announced it will file for bankruptcy.
NCL was notified today, and in a statement has said that it "is moving forward with its plans to complete the U.S.-flagged, U.S.-crewed Pride of America notwithstanding the shipyard's financial restructuring. The ship is heavily insured under a policy to cover the damage from last month's shipyard accident."
The good news is that the ship is slated to be re-floated this week, which means progress on that particular front. The NCL statement says it will continue to work with Lloyd Werft on that process. Pride of America will be taken to dry dock for damage assessment and repairs will follow. There's still no word from NCL regarding a new debut date for Pride of America.
