I am curious why the Pride skipped this port on Nov. 28th. I was on this ship and heard the Capt. say weather there was too risky with 40-50 knt. winds and a potential port closing, however I looked on the internet and found winds never exceeded 9-12 knts. that day. But what I did find on the website for the port itself was a story how the port was closed on Nov. 17th due to large waves from cold fronts coming out of the U.S. and no mention that it had reopened.
This seems like a very sketchy port and one to avoid in the winter due to weather and one to avoid in the summer due to flies!!!
If anyone has any further info on this specific cancellation, please let me know. I wasn't expecting much from Progreso but I did want to get off the ship there. The $20 ship credit seemed a little weak, particularly if this port is closed alot in the winter and Carnival had not made any backup plans for another port.
